The algorithm was created to automate various aspects of designing a house on a given plot, with a condition that an architect should still be in control of overall design.
In the first step, an architect has to mark the site boundary, keeping north in the upward direction. Architects based on local by-laws will also have to specify the offsets to be left in each direction. The algorithm will give a total site area and buildable area.
In the second step, an architect hat to mark the position where he/she would like to place the staircase. This need not be accurate as the algorithm will then decide the best possible placement keeping in mind the initial position given by the architect. The architect will also specify the required entry position for the site.
In the third step, architect has to specify the spaces required on each floor, with their areas and type of windows. Also inter-relation ship between each space is also required.
Optimization process and then start and algorithm then generate twelve itterations out which architect selects one for each floor.
Line drawing plans are then generated by the algorithms.
Architect has an option over here to modify the plan if he/she chooses so.
Algorithms then converts these line into red or blue.
Red representing one brick thick and blue representing half brick thick.
Based on the plan generated in step 6, algorithms are then able to generate a 3D with elements like doors, windows and staircases placed automatically.
Since this is a B.I.M model, architects in this step can easily modify the the shape, type and size of these elements.
As a last step, all the generated floors by the algorithm are then combined to form a building
Since it is B.I.M model, the algorithm is also able to generate plans and section.
